Hello, hola, bonjour, etc :). I'm a 21 year old African-American woman nicknamed Mimi. I am in my senior year of college, majoring and minoring in subjects unrelated to web/graphic design. Poetry is my anti-drug and as previously stated in the welcome message, I'm pretty random. Are you intrigued?

Sometimes you meet someone and before you know their name, before you know where they are from you know that sometime in the future this person is going to mean something to you.

Creating PNGs (Cropping)
There are different ways to cut out an image. This tutorial will only explain one method (which is obviously my preference).

First things first, select an image of your choice. I find it much easier to cut out an image when there's not much going on in the background and when the person hair is not all over the place. We will be using this picture of Beyonce:

Go to view>>zoom in* and zoom in 200%.

Select your free lasso* and double click on it so you can edit the tool settings. Set your soft edge to 2 and match* your settings with mine.

Now, starting from the bottom, outline/crop your image with the free lasso tool like I've done so here*. I think it's best to go a little bit inside of the image like I did in that screenshot.

It is not necessary to get every single strand of hair. You can even deliberately ignore some of the hair and just leave it out of cropped image like I've done so here*.

Once you get back to the point where you initially began, double click so the selection can be made like I did here. Please note: your background may not turn green, it may remain transparent so do not be alarmed.

Now go to edit>>copy* and after that, go to edit>>paste as document* and save the file as a .PNG! And now you have successfully cropped out an image, yay! Below is my end result:
