Updates: new skin – website templates – articles – list of hosts – photoline actions – poll of the week

Lately, I’ve been seeing a lot of girls on Facebook talking about this Nicki Minaj character. Everyone wants their last name to be Minaj all of a sudden. Everyone wants to be “harajuku barbies”. I did not know much about this woman, aside from knowing she’s a female rapper and seeing a few pictures of her, so I decided to look at youtube videos of her and read some of her lyrics. I seriously can’t fathom why girls would want to emulate her? Ladies, we have lowered our standards so much that we would rather be bad bitches than beautiful queens??! It hurts my soul that people actually look up to Nicki Minaj (heck, even Lady Gaga, Rihanna, & Beyonce for that matter). She SHOULD NOT be your role model. Find someone worth emulating or better yet- BE YOURSELF!!

That’s a huge problem nowadays. People don’t want to be themselves. They want to be followers and do what’s “in”? But, why? What’s “in” now may be old news next season! Then you’re going to have an identity crisis, right?? It’s just upsetting that some person who you don’t even know has so much of an influence on you- your style, your speech, your thoughts, etc. That’s some serious mind control right there.

… In other news (lol), I am FINALLY back and I hope 2010 will be an active year here at Doux Riens! I’ve added a few new layouts and two articles- 7 Essential Sites for College Students & What NOT To Do When Approaching Girls. Be sure to take a look =). If there’s anything you ever want me to blog or write an article about, just let me know; I’m always looking for ideas.

Updates: website templates – unrequested website reviews

You know, sometimes we forget about our own happiness. We grow accustomed to putting everyone before us and ensuring everyone else’s happiness. But at what cost? Being selfless is an admiring quality and not everyone has it, but I am a firm believer in putting yourself first. I don’t mean it as in be selfish and say “forget everyone else”, but I believe sometimes you have to put your needs and wants first. Some people try too hard to please everyone. You cannot please everyone in life, you just cannot. When you lose yourself in the process of helping others, that’s a problem.

^ I wrote that almost half a year ago (I have a habit of jotting down blog ideas & never finishing them :tongue: ). I would’ve liked to continue it, but I don’t have any inspiration whatsoever to complete it…

So, I added the layouts back. There’s only a few though (and only a couple of new ones). I am still in the process of adjusting the coding with the other ones. I also added the tutorial section and hopefully soon enough, I’ll create some video tutorials. The PNG section is still on its way, but it hasn’t been updated in ages. I might just get rid of it all together, who knows. I know there’s a few kinks I need to work out with wordpress (the poll page, the “thread” plugin), but do not fear- I’m working on it :wink: . Hope all is well with you all!

How Young Is Too Young? / Opening

Edit (06/09/09)- I was going to try replying to all the comments… but it’s so tedious. I’ll just comment on some from now on, not all. I definitely plan to return all comments though :). Expect an update either Thursday/Friday…

First of all, I apologize for not meeting my own deadline. How pathetic is that?? I was unable to finish it before going to work & I did not return home ’til almost 2am this morning haha. So, I am sorry about that. It’s open now so that’s all that matters… right? I have a lot of content to add. I have the layouts coded, but I have to make screenshots and set them up for download. Hopefully within the next few days, they’ll be available. Sooo you’re probably wondering wtf has been updated?! I have added some new articles, poetry, photoline actions, and some other things. It’s not a lot though, but no worries, more will come :). Oh yes, please don’t become frantic if you see that some content isn’t here. It does NOT mean that it won’t be here. The layouts, tutorials, and PNGS will return in a few days, so please don’t fret!

Okay, now onto the actual subject of the blog… For some odd reason, I’ve been watching Keeping Up With The Kardashians. I recently saw one episode where 11-year-old Kylie Kardashian was upset that her father wouldn’t allow her to wear make up. Her mom was upset about it and I did not understand why. Perhaps it’s my raising, but I think wearing make-up at such a young age is unacceptable. Why should 11-year-olds be concerned about their appearance like that? Instead of wasting time applying make up, she should be playing with Barbies. Whatever happened to just being a kid?? I did not stop playing with my Barbies until I was 13 years old and I am proud of it haha. In the same episode, I also noticed she was wearing a push up bra… a push up bra at 11?! That’s BEYOND ridiculous. I don’t understand how parents can allow that so I was on the father’s side.
